Call 863.287.6388 or 813.287.6388 about your Trucking Accident Personal Injury legal needs in the Florida Counties of Polk, Hillsborough, Sarasota, Levy, Highlands, Hardee, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, and Manatee County.
Florida law requires truck drivers to carry a minimum amount of “public liability” insurance coverage to register their commercial truck. Public Liability coverage includes Personal Injury Protection (to pay the truck driver’s medical bills if he or she is injured in an accident), Bodily Injury Liability (to pay medical bills of someone other than the truck driver injured in an accident caused by the truck driver) and Property Damage Liability (to protect other people’s property or vehicles damaged in an accident caused by the truck driver).
The Property Damage Liability portion of this coverage will cover the repair or replacement of your vehicle if it is damaged in a trucking accident. Florida’s minimum requirement for Property Damage Liability is $10,000 for the smallest truck, and that amount increases for heavier weights of each commercial vehicle. This is because the heavier the truck is, the more damage it is likely to cause in an accident.
If the at-fault truck driver does not carry enough Public Liability coverage to repair your vehicle, then your own (optional) Collision Coverage would need to help cover the costs of repairing your vehicle.
Some personal injury attorneys automatically get involved in their clients’ property damage negotiation, while others only get involved if the insurance company is uncooperative. When an attorney automatically gets involved, they often take a percentage of your property damage settlement as part of their fee.
Dean Burnetti Law will guide you through talking to the appropriate insurance adjuster and getting your vehicle repaired. We handle things this way to save you from paying additional legal fees and also because handling things yourself is usually much faster. Plus, it’s not really difficult to handle yourself.
No one else knows your vehicle better than you. Once we determine the claim number and the name and phone number of the appropriate adjuster, we instruct you what to say when you call.
The property damage adjuster will likely want to schedule an evaluation of your vehicle, and unless it is completely undriveable, you’ll know best when your schedule allows you to make this appointment.
In the rare occasion your vehicle is not repaired to your satisfaction, Dean Burnetti Law will be happy to get involved. Many times, all it takes to get a difficult car repair case moving back in the right direction is a phone call from an attorney.
